It's been a while since I updated this page. In November 2023, I found a new role as software engineer at thirdhome. I have been enjoying my time with thirdhome and have been learning a lot. It's always exciting learning a new codebase. The previous engineers have accomplished a lot and being able to dive into their work is truly inspiring. Makes me want to be better!
I have been able to pick up new skills with my new role. I have some knowledge in Swift and Kotlin now and as a result I can build lightweight native applications with turbo-native. We will be releasing an Android version of Thirdhome soon that I am excited to be apart of!
As I reflect on my experience as a programmer, I am very happy that I stuck with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and vanilla JavaScript!
It's been a very long process, but my lady will be arriving in the US very soon. The process to get her over here took a little over 14 months, but she should be here in June.
I plan to read many books this year. The following books I have finished so far.
- The Three Body Problem by Cixin Lu
- Poor Charlie's Almanack by Peter Kaufman
- Clear Thinking by Shane Parrish
- The Tao of Charlie Munger by David Clark
- A Mind for Numbers by Barbara Oakley
- Vagabond by Takaheiko Inoue
- Headfirst Kotlin
I barely watch TV series or movies, but this year I am trying! I have been watching Shogun, the last season of Curb, The Three Body Problem. My list of movies to watch include Poor Things, American Fiction, and Dune - part two.
I am training jiu jitsu 3-4 times a week. I have been studying, Lachlan Giles, Jason Rau, Jozef Chen, and Nicky Ryan. Their games have helped me evolve my jiu jitsu drastically. I will be attending a jiu jitsu camp hosted by Craig and Jozef. I'm excited to reunite with old friends from China and also get into some good training during this trip.
